Before You Open Squarespace

The real cost of doing it yourself.

The time you spend

The average small business owner spends 40 or more hours building a Squarespace site. At your billable rate, or even just the hourly value of your time, that is not a bargain. It is a trade you lose.

The results you get

Self-built sites rank poorly, convert poorly, and look like self-built sites. Customers notice immediately. A site that looks unfinished is a site that loses business before a word is read.

What you still pay anyway

Free trials become subscriptions. Templates cost extra. Plugins stack up. Support means a chat bot. By the time your DIY site is live, you have spent more than you expected, on something that still needs work.

The Division of Labor

You handle five things. I handle everything else.

Your role

  • Choose a design you like from the 19 options
  • Fill out the intake form with your business details
  • Send your photos, logo, and any existing copy
  • Review the draft when it's ready
  • Approve and go live

My role

  • Apply your brand colors, fonts, and logo across the site
  • Write or refine copy for every section
  • Resize and optimize every photo for web performance
  • Build and test the mobile version on real devices
  • Set up analytics, connect forms, verify contact details
  • Connect your domain and push the site live
  • Check load speed, fix any issues, hand you a working site
The Starting Point

19 starting designs. All built by hand.

Every design is adapted by a professional, not generated by a tool. Pick one and let the work begin.

You Can Ignore All of This

Things you will never have to touch.

These are real tasks required to build a professional website. None of them land in your lap.

Hosting and DNS setup

Domain records, nameservers, propagation delays. Setting these up correctly is a multi-step process most business owners have never done. I handle it.

SSL certificates

The padlock in the browser that tells visitors your site is secure. Required for trust and for SEO. Already included.

Image compression

Uncompressed photos slow pages down and hurt search rankings. Every image is optimized before it goes live. You never think about it.

Plugin updates and security patches

Sites built on WordPress or page builders require ongoing maintenance to stay secure. Your site is built and maintained without that headache.

Mobile breakpoints

The code that makes a desktop layout reformat correctly on a phone or tablet. Already done. Already tested.

Search Console setup

Getting your site indexed by Google requires connecting it to Google Search Console. That step is done as part of every launch.

FAQ

Questions about the done-for-you process.

What does the process actually look like for me?

You fill out an intake form that takes about 30 to 45 minutes. You send your photos, logo, and any notes about your business. I build the site and send you a link to review. You leave comments. I make the changes. You approve and we go live. Most clients spend fewer than two hours total on their end.

Do I need to write all my own copy?

No. You provide the basics: what your business does, your key services, any specific phrases or selling points you want included. From there I write or shape the copy to fit the design. Copywriting as a full service is also available as an add-on if you want everything written from scratch.

Will my site look like other people using the same template?

No. Every site uses your brand colors, your fonts, your logo, your photos, and your copy. Two businesses using the same starting design end up with sites that look nothing alike. The template is a structural framework, not a finished product.

Can I update the site myself after it launches?

Yes. The site is built so that basic updates, text changes, and photo swaps can be made without touching code. I can also walk you through how to do it. For larger changes or ongoing updates, a monthly care plan is available.

What if I already have a logo and brand colors?

Perfect. Send them and I will apply them directly. If you have a brand guide, that works even better. If your existing branding needs refinement, that is a conversation we can have before the project starts.

Is this right for a brand new business that has no content yet?

Yes. Many clients come in before they have photos, copy, or even a final business name. We can use placeholder content to build the structure, then swap in real content as it becomes available. Getting the site structure right first is often the smarter move.
