Opened Obsidian in 2009 after eleven years in Berlin. Takes on four large-scale pieces a year and nothing else.
Single-needle specialist with a background in etching. Best person here for small, precise work that has to sit exactly right.
Black and grey portraits, usually across three or four sittings. Will tell you honestly if a photo won't translate.
Free, thirty minutes, in person or over video. Bring references, placement ideas and a rough budget. We'll tell you if it's the wrong idea.
A $150 deposit holds your date and comes off the final price. Your artist draws it custom — you see it before the machine goes on.
Eat beforehand, bring headphones. Long sittings run six hours with breaks whenever you need them. Sessions are $180 an hour.
Written aftercare, a check-in at two weeks, and one free touch-up inside six months if anything settles unevenly.
Six private chairs, no front-of-house queue and no music you have to shout over. If you want to be looked at while you get tattooed, we're the wrong studio.
Everything single-use where it can be, autoclaved where it can't, and inspected annually. Ask to see the log — we'll show you.
No. Everything here is drawn custom for the person wearing it, which takes time before you ever sit down. Book a consultation and we'll go from there.
$180 an hour with a $200 minimum. Most forearm pieces land between $600 and $1,400 depending on detail. You get a written estimate at consultation, and we don't go over it without asking you first.
It comes off your final price. It's non-refundable if you cancel inside 48 hours or don't show, because that's a chair nobody else could book. Reschedule with more notice and it moves with you.
Often, but not always — it depends on how dark and how large the existing piece is. Send a clear photo in daylight and we'll tell you honestly, including if laser removal first would give a better result.
You'll leave with written aftercare and a follow-up at two weeks. Short version: keep it clean, keep it out of the sun, don't pick it, and stay out of pools for a fortnight.
One person, yes. The studio is small and the chairs are private, so more than that won't fit comfortably.
